Dr. Brown was named Chair of the St. Joseph's Hospital Emergency Department in 2010. Prior to joining Buffalo Emergency Associates, she was Assistant Program Director of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program for the University at Buffalo School of Medicine at Erie County Medical Center. She was also an Attending Physician and Clinical Assistant Professor in the program.
A graduate of the University of Rochester and the University at Buffalo School of Medicine, Dr. Brown is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Brown is dedicated to improving the Emergency Medicine profession through research, teaching and adherence to best practices. She has published numerous articles for academic and practitioner audiences, and she presents workshops for medical students, providers and first responders.
Dr. Brown, Board Member and Senior Partner of BEA/Exigence, is the Director of Emergency Services and Director of the Emergency Department at Mount St. Mary's Hospital Emergency Department. Prior to this appointment in 2003, Dr. Brown was an attending emergency medicine physician for Catholic Health in Western New York.
After graduating cum laude with a BS in Zoology from Howard University, he earned an MD from the University at Buffalo. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, and he is a member of ACEP. He holds the appointment of Clinical Preceptor for second-year medical students at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine.
Dr. Brown is extremely active in the community. He is the Medical Director for eight of the volunteer emergency management services (EMS) companies in the Niagara County region, and he chairs the "Salute to Niagara County's EMS Providers" Award Ceremony each year. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Williams-Elmslie YMCA, as Director of the Crisis Response Team of the Greater Refuge Temple of Christ Church and as Director of the Preventing Youth Violence Conference. He and his wife, Dr. Curlane Jones-Brown, co-founded the S.E.N.S.E.S Foundation, a non-profit organization helping the Buffalo inner-city children and young adults realize their potential to learn, and become productive members of the community. Together they received the Family Life Award from the Buffalo Urban League for their continued support to youth and young adults in the Western New York community.
Dr. Brown is a leader in quality improvement and patient satisfaction programs, and Mount St. Mary's has earned national recognition for his efforts. For example, the hospital was ranked number one in Ascension Health for Core Measures in July 2008. Ascension Health is the largest Catholic health care system and the largest non-profit delivery system in the United States with 66 acute care hospitals in 20 states and the District of Columbia.
Dr. Dara serves as the Chief of Emergency Medicine at Sisters Hospital. He is a board member of Buffalo Emergency Associates.
Dr. Dara is well respected in his administrative leadership role. He is Board Certified in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine, and he is certified by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. Dr. Dara has been instrumental in multiple publications, including narrating chapters in Emergency Medicine books.
Dr. Dara also holds an appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Elman serves as the Chairman of Emergency Medicine at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, which has the largest and busiest Emergency Department in the Catholic Health system in Western New York.
He brings a wealth of clinical and administrative experience to his leadership role. An Emergency Medicine practitioner for over 25 years, he is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. For the two years prior to joining Buffalo Emergency Associates, he served as the Director of the Emergency Department and also as Chief of Staff at Lockport Memorial Hospital.
Prior appointments include the Chairmanship of Ambulatory Care and Emergency Medicine Services at both Sisters and St. Joseph Hospital in Buffalo.
Dr. Elman also holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine, and he currently serves on the Board of Governors at Lockport Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Kaushal is a board member and senior partner of Buffalo Emergency Associates.
He has served as the chairman of the Emergency Department at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo and Director at Mercy Ambulatory Care Center.
Dr. Kaushal is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He has resided in Buffalo for the past 20 years.
Dr. Kaushal is a leader in enhancing customer satisfaction, performance improvement and quality assurance programs.
Dr. Martin began serving as the Chief of Emergency Medicine at Kenmore Mercy Hospital on August 1, 2003. She brings an impeccable set of training and credentials to her clinical and administrative leadership role. She is doubled Boarded in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. For the fourteen years prior to joining Buffalo Emergency Associates, she served as the Director of the Emergency Department at Kaleida Health Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
Dr. Martin also holds appointments as both Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. In addition, she is well published and has been integral to the development of Emergency Medicine services at the regional, state and national levels.
